Dorset Poll sheep
We believe all poultry should be able to free-range outdoors - and that is just what our hens and ducks do! We keep a variety of hens including brown hybrids, Bluebells, a Black Rock, French Copper Black Marans and Cream Legbars. Our ducks are Silver Appleyard, Saxony and Aylesburys...

We keep rare breed pedigree Oxford Sandy & Black pigs, a dual purpose pig giving meat for succulent joints, sausages and bacon. As well as being called the Oxford Sandy & Black Pig they are also called the forest pig and, my favourite, the plum pudding! They are lovely, good-natured, friendly pigs!
Fed on the highest quality GMO free feed and free to roam in their paddock and wallow on hotter days...

We keep a small flock of pedigree Dorset Poll sheep, a short-wool, meat-producing sheep. Poll Dorset sheep are unique because they can breed at any time during the year, which gives the ability to produce lambs at times when usually no fresh lamb is readily available.
They have already provided us with some beautiful, soft fleece which has been made into a rug! Our plan is to breed from them and increase our flock over time...

ABOUT THE OLD BARNS
It started off with just a few hens to provide us with wonderful fresh eggs.
Then our family and friends wanted to buy our free-range eggs, so we bought more hens to meet the demand! We have hatched our own French Copper Black Marans chicks and Cream Legbar chicks.
Along came our lovely ducks: Silver Appleyard, Saxony & Aylesburys, who provide us with delicious large eggs, perfect for poaching, cooking and baking.
In 2018 along came rare breed pedigree Oxford Sandy & Black pigs. In 2019 we kept pedigree British Saddlebacks, too. In 2020 we have reverted back to the OSB as they are such lovely, friendly, good-natured pigs!
Also in 2020 we added 3 pedigree Dorset Poll ewe lambs to our growing smallholding. Initially very timid, they are gradually getting more used to us and will come up and say "hello" and enjoy a little pat on the nose!
